Mesh gasket type SD
Mesh gasket with strainer insert
Mesh gasket type SD –
Temporary strainer for flanges
The mesh strainer gasket type SD is a temporary strainer (temporary strainer) for installation between standard flanges – ideal for reliably protecting system parts from dirt and particles during the start-up phase.
Typical areas of application: Pumps, gas meters, containers and pipelines – wherever particles such as grease residues, chips, welding beads or small parts can occur during start-up (e.g. after assembly/revision).
Advantages / Benefits
Why the mesh gasket type SD?
- Quick installation and removal thanks to low installation depth (practical in the start-up phase).
- Effective protection of important components (e.g. pumps/instruments/pipes) during the start-up phase by separating typical assembly and production residues.
- Cost-effective alternative to stainless steel flat plate strainers/conical strainers for temporary applications (especially if “only” the start-up phase needs to be secured).
- Individually configurable: design, sealing material, norms/standards and mesh size can be customized.
Product description
The strainer gasket type SD combines a gasket with an integrated mesh gasket and is used as an intermediate flange solution. It serves as a temporary strainer to intercept impurities during initial operation or after maintenance before they cause damage or malfunctions.
Product data
- Nominal diameters: DN10 to DN250 (others on request)
- Nominal pressure: up to PN40 (depending on seal material; others on request)
- Installation: between standard flanges to DIN EN 1092-1; ANSI B 16.5 applications are also specified.
- Gasket materials: GSB (graphite spit plate), Klingersil, AFM34, Klinger-Quantum (others on request).
- Wire mesh: stainless steel 1.4571 / 1.4301 (others on request).
- Mesh size: individually according to customer requirements
Applications / usage scenarios
Typical application: Start-up phase of industrial plants
During commissioning, residues from assembly and production can come loose. The mesh gasket type SD is used as a temporary strainer to filter welding beads, chips, grease residue and small parts from the medium – before they damage components or impair measuring points/valves.
Where is it used?
- Pump protection / protection of rotating units
- Protection of measuring and metering technology (e.g. gas meters)
- Protection of containers and pipelines during start-up
